Harvest Monday: week 26

Niet veel foto’s deze week, want serieus, hoeveel foto’s van boontjes kun je nemen? De boontjes zijn dus van start gegaan. Elke dag een handje vol. Hier hebben we naar uitgekeken, want de boontjes zijn hier thuis de absolute favoriet en ze vallen ook in de smaak bij de (schoon)familie.

Verder nog enkele courgettes, die gingen in de soep. Ook een kropje sla (Susana) werd opgeofferd, enkele hete pepers gingen ook in het mondje. Daarnaast nog veel verse kruiden geoogst, samen met de laatste peultjes en een kommetje aardbeien.

Voorts heb ik alle aardappels gerooid want ik zag bruine vlekken op het blad en stengels verschijnen. Ik wou geen risico’s lopen met de tomaten dus die heb ik allemaal geoogst. Ik vind het zeker niet slecht voor een allereerste poging in dit natte weer!

Not a lot of pictures this week, because how many pictures can one take of a handful of beans? The first beans were harvested by the handful, about every other day. They are a favorite at this household, they tasted delicious. It was a first time growing Cobra, they look great as well. I’m curious how they will taste if not harvested a a really young bean. I usually only grow Neckarkönigin, which still tastes great when a bit more mature.

I also harvested a few zucchini, they went in a lovely soup. Some hot peppers were picked, along with a head of Susana lettuce, lots of herbs, few snow peas and a bowl of strawberries.

Al the potatoes were pulled too. Unfortunately I noticed some brown spots on the leaves and stems. I didn’t want to take any risk with the tomatoes only meters away. It was still a nice harvest for a potato novice and considering the exceptionally wet spring we’ve had! And the most important thing, they taste 10 times better then the spuds from the shop!
