For the English version, scroll down please!
It’s been a while since I last posted here. I had an excuse though, I had to be operated on because my appendix had to be removed. As a consequence, I haven’t done any gardening at all last week. So thankfully my girlfriend has looked after the garden quite a bit and cooked an harvested from it. I didn’t dare to ask her to take pictures, though.
The last two weeks have been updated, you can take a look here and here.
Again lots and lots of beans! We ate beans, some beans went to the freezer and some went to the in-laws.
I grow fennel for my grandma-in-law and we spoiled her some more with tomatoes and zucchini.
When I was in the hospital, the tomatoes were left laying around on the countertop so they looked rather sad upon my return. They were delicious, however, in a comforting bowl of tomato soup (wit meatballs!).
We also harvested lettuce, hot peppers, bell peppers and lots of zucchini. Let’s hope I can do some gardening this week, I’ve really missed the garden!
Please take a look at the other harvests at Dave’s. For moreictures of my garden at the beginning of August, take a look here.
Sorry to hear about your appendix. It’s good you had someone to tend to your garden. That fennel looks lovely! I enjoy eating it, but I’ve never had much luck growing it, other than the leafy kind.

I feel that fennel is one of those veggies you have to learn to appreciate. I didn’t, it was far from a staple when I was growing up and to be honest it scares me a little to cook with..
I grew some last year as well and it was slightly bigger more like a bulb. I guess the weather we’ve been having, wasn’t ideal!

I hope you are back to the garden soon, how frightening to have to have surgery to remove your appendix. The harvests are lovely and the soup looks very comforting, just the thing to help get back up to speed.

Nice to have delicious veggies waiting for you when you got out of the hospital. Hopefully you’ll be back to your gardening self very soon.

I hope you’re healing well after your surgery. Your garden looks like it’s doing great and I think fresh snap beans and tomatoes are some of the best things to come from a garden. I’ve never eaten bulb fennel before but plan on growing some this fall, a friend says they’re delicious grilled and I’ve read about them being baked in a white sauce.
